Authentic Interaction - The Signal That AI² Is Working

Last week, I introduced the concept of AI², where the first "AI" stands for Augmented Intelligence: Artificial Intelligence guided by Emotional Intelligence (EQ), resulting in more effective judgment, stronger adoption, and truly sustainable change. In that post, we explored how blending the power of AI with human insight and emotional awareness creates an intentional partnership, not just a technical upgrade. The natural next step, and the focus of this blog, is the second "AI": Authentic Interaction. This is the visible, relational result that emerges when Augmented Intelligence is present - where technology enables us to engage more openly, communicate more clearly, and collaborate in ways that are not only smarter, but also more genuinely human. 

Consider this formula where AI results in so much more:

AI + EQ = AI2 – (Augmented Intelligence & Authentic Interaction)

When Augmented Intelligence is present, something noticeable changes in organizations: the quality of interaction improves.

This is what I describe as Authentic Interaction - the relational outcome of AI guided by EQ. 

Authentic Interaction isn’t vague or idealistic. It looks and feels like: 

  • - clear, human communication 

  • - decisions that account for both system and human impact 

  • - conversations happening earlier instead of being delayed, avoided or over‑polished 

In the frame of Artificial Intelligence implementation; this shows up as: 

  • - expressing AI understanding and decisions in language both the speaker and the people listening understand 

  • - choosing conversation over convenience when stakes are high 

  • - leading change with transparency instead of manufactured certainty 

Authentic Interaction is the visible signal that AI² is working. When trust is increasing, alignment is improving, and adoption feels smoother - that’s not luck. That’s leadership. 

AI introduces uncertainty by default. Models evolve. Outputs shift. Roles adapt. Teams experiment. If leaders aren’t comfortable facilitating real conversations during uncertainty, people retreat into caution. 

Authentic Interaction creates space for: 

  • - questions without penalty 

  • - feedback without defensiveness 

  • - learning without shame 

  • - curiosity over judgement 

And when that happens, change stops feeling imposed and starts feeling collaborative. 

When AI and EQ combine, teams collaborate more openly, leaders listen more deeply, and innovation becomes a shared journey. The real power of Augmented Intelligence lies in its ability to unlock authentic engagement and meaningful progress - making technology work for us, not just faster, but smarter and more human.
